Etape du Tour Training plans
The Etape du Tour is a bucket list event and one that can really test your limits as a bike rider.
Each edition sees a real challenge ahead of the riders and as we all know, take these things lightly and you'll really suffer on the day.
This years Etape takes place in the Haute Savoie in the Alpes and is a 150km ride from Annemasse to Morzine with around 4100m of elevation with 5 categorised climbs and very little flat.
We have already been to the alpes and ridden the route to see just what it is all about and have put together a training plan that will see you get around the Etape in good shape and maximise your enjoyment of the day. A day where you are either climbing or descending from the start requires not only good physical and mental fitness but also the ability to know your limits and how to pace yourself. It's all well and good being in great shape but if you don't pace yourself, those last two climbs could easily finish you off.
A basic training plan giving you a weekly program up to the start of the Etape is available for £145.
If you want a more personalised plan to fit in with your available time and have regular feedback to discuss your progress and ask for general cycling advice, these start at £120 per month. These are our most popular but spaces are limited.
For riders who have some experience and are self motivated, we would recommend the basic training plan. You will have a plan containing a schedule of workouts that you can follow that will get you to the start line in great shape. There will be enough rest and flexibility within them for you to fit your life around the plan.
For riders who are less experienced, we would recommend a training program that at least initially has some feedback and review with us. You can then opt for a stand alone program as and when you feel confident, or continue with a more personal program right up to the Etape.
For the real beginners, or for anyone unsure or lacking confidence in riding on the roads, we offer 1-2-1 riding sessions. During these sessions we will give you real time feedback on your riding, explain the finer points of riding on the roads, how to sit on a wheel and how to develop your ob-bike skills. If there are a few of you, even better. Come for a group ride and learn the best and most efficient way to ride as a group and get on top of these skills before you take the plunge in a mass start event.
We are also running a pre-etape reccy trip to the alpes where we will ride the climbs of the Etape and give you an idea of what it will be like. This will take place in late May.
Contact us if you would like more details about the Etape reccy trip or our training plans.
